I love designing and building resilient systems, and my role at ByteDance offers the right balance of development, research, and system design. Here, I build systems used in the company's core network and solve challenging problems at scale. I chose to join ByteDance after graduation because it offers unique challenges and opportunities. I love that I'm given the autonomy to take ownership of my projects and how I solve problems.

I was the Backend Engineer Intern for Data Platform. I chose the internship because of my interest in distributed systems and databases. Moreover, my team offered a great environment to explore, learn, and apply my knowledge to real projects.

Being part of a global team, I have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from all over the world. I work alongside people from Singapore, China, Korea, Malaysia, and the United States, many of whom are passionate female engineers. Working with such supportive, experienced colleagues, I've also had the chance to learn and grow a lot.

ByteDance fosters great research, by far the best I've seen in the industry. The research papers coming out of ByteDance are incredible and very promising for a PhD student like me. My mentors deeply understood the work and its requirements, helping me plan even the smallest details. Their extensive knowledge, willingness to share, and supportive personalities helped me grow significantly.

The people I work with at ByteDance are probably the smartest people I have ever met! At the same time, they are so humble that I don't feel embarrassed or nervous about asking questions. I like how my teammates always strive for an environment that encourages learning.
