
Responsibilities
We are seeking an Algorithm Research Scientist to join the Applied Machine Learning – Machine Learning Systems (AML-MLSys) team. The team focuses on designing and scaling machine learning systems that bring state-of-the-art algorithms into real-world applications. In this role, you will drive the conception, design, and validation of advanced machine learning algorithms, with a strong emphasis on efficiency, quality, automation, and system awareness. You will work end-to-end, from problem formulation and theoretical reasoning to proof-of-concept, experimentation, and system-level design—bridging research and product in close collaboration with engineering and infrastructure teams. In addition to research contributions, this role requires strong engineering rigor: you are expected to write production-quality code, contribute to shared codebases, and participate in code reviews and long-term maintenance of research and ML system components. Responsibilities: - Propose and design novel or state-of-the-art (SOTA) machine learning algorithms, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and automation. - Formulate research problems clearly, provide theoretical insights or empirical justification, and validate ideas through POCs and controlled experiments. - Design and execute large-scale experiments to evaluate algorithmic trade-offs and system implications. - Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure algorithms are system-aware, scalable, and production-impactful. - Apply product thinking to research by prioritizing impact, robustness, and real-world ML system constraints. - Contribute to system design and architectural decisions related to ML models, training pipelines, and evaluation frameworks. - Develop and maintain high-quality research and system code, following best practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and collaborative development (e.g., code reviews, shared repositories). - Document and communicate research findings clearly to both research and engineering audiences.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree or above in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, NLP, or a related field (or equivalent research experience). - Strong background in machine learning algorithms and deep learning. - Proven ability to independently solve complex algorithmic and research problems. - Experience designing, running, and analyzing experiments at scale. - Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. - Strong engineering skills, including experience writing clean, maintainable, and production-quality code and contributing to shared or long-lived codebases. Preferred Qualifications: - Publications in conferences or a strong internal research track record. - Demonstrated experience bridging algorithm research and ML systems, including awareness of training efficiency, scalability, and deployment constraints. - Experience working in applied or product-oriented research environments, translating research prototypes into robust, reusable implementations.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $136800 - $359720 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
