Responsibilities

Team Introduction: The APAC Accounting and Reporting team at ByteDance is responsible for the core financial accounting activities of entities across the region. The team establishes in-region accounting processes for multiple businesses, provides financial guidance, and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure accurate and compliant reporting. This includes the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as reviewing, analyzing, and reporting in accordance with applicable accounting principles and regulations across the APAC region. We are looking for a Chief Accountant in Vietnam to act as the primary representative of the APAC Accounting and Reporting team in Vietnam, partnering closely with the regional team in Singapore to align local accounting operations with broader APAC financial reporting and compliance requirements. Job Responsibilities: - Ensure all local accounting operations, including month-end and year-end closing and financial statement preparation, strictly comply with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS). - Post journal entries to ensure smooth monthly and quarterly closings. - Prepare trial balances and financial statements accurately and on time. - Perform monthly account reconciliations and related tasks. - Liaise with external auditors during annual financial audits and statutory reporting for assigned entities; manage the full audit cycle to ensure all reporting deadlines are met. - Prepare financial data to support the tax team in completing tax submissions and assist in tax inspections, where applicable. - Prepare financial data required for government declarations and other statutory filings. - Provide financial data and analysis in line with the business needs of other departments. - Support ad hoc projects, including system enhancements and process improvements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification(s) - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Auditing, or Finance. - A valid Chief Accountant Training Certificate issued by an authorized institution in Vietnam. - At least 5 years of working experience, with 2 years of practical accounting experience (for Bachelor’s degree holders) or 3 years (for intermediate/college degree holders). - Strong professional ethics, integrity, and a high level of compliance with applicable laws and regulations. - Professional proficiency in both English and Vietnamese (written and spoken), with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-regional stakeholders. - Proven ability to work in a matrixed environment, with strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines. - Familiarity with financial internal controls, system implementation, and process optimization. Preferred Qualification(s) - Experience in e-commerce, the technology industry, or platform-based business models, including relevant accounting considerations. - Familiarity with IFRS, in addition to VAS, is highly desirable. - Self-driven and proactive, with strong analytical and logical thinking skills; demonstrates a growth mindset and the ability to propose solutions and drive process improvements.
